Aim, Fire… Are you Ready?
What’s your style? Are you a quick start, or a planner? When you hear Aim, Fire… can you relate? How will you begin this new year?
Being a business owner and entrepreneur means busy days and for most, never enough time to get it all done. Frequently clients are excited about doubling their profits (one of the primary reasons they hire me), yet when we begin working together I’m finding that most are not ready. We all must be sure that we’re creating a foundation for success before we begin the process of bringing in new business.
Some years ago, I was working with a manufacturer who claimed they were more than ready to double their profits. Yet, when I asked if their production line could make twice as many units in a month, the owner paused, thought, and admitted that no, they were not able to step it up. Now, of course, increased production was only one area to prepare, but he quickly saw that without these pieces in place, any additional growth would only derail their other activities, leaving them with unhappy customers and a potential backlash from future prospects and press. A weakened brand was one outcome we weren’t interested in creating.
Systems are not the only area to address when getting started. Another client had a really big idea. This brilliant new revenue stream could potentially make millions, yet we’re at a point where she’s almost ready to launch, and suddenly she’s dragging her feet. When asked what might be getting in her way, she admitted that she was nervous she wasn’t ready for all the work that would come her way once she launched. You see, she’d become comfortable getting it ready, thinking, dreaming, even acting on the steps to getting there, but to actually launch – – well, that brought up a list of new challenges she wasn’t sure about. Her mindset was the area to look, to confront her fears and reservations, and do what was needed to ensure that the launch would not only go well, but that whatever it brought could be handled with finesse.
I want my clients to succeed in every area of their life. I know you want to succeed, and that your dreams for your business likely encompass some big ideas. However, it’s vital that you give yourself strong roots that burrow deep into the earth, so that you can grow tall, sturdy and strong. In order for that to happen you must take the time to stop where you are, look around and honestly assess what it will take to accommodate the growth you desire.
Sometimes complaints about the market is true, but frequently what’s needed is our ability to truly meet the needs of our clientele. You are potentially leaving thousands of dollars on the table by rushing around (or blaming something you can’t change).
For you to live your best life and grow your business to be its best, its time to get your house in order. Its time to do what’s required to give yourself every opportunity to be the best in your field. Feel good as you build your vision. Feel in control, confident, and ready for whatever comes.
As we begin this new year be sure to revisit the A.A.A.S.K. method:
Assess – Have a look at each aspect of your business to be super clear where you stand. Be as honest as you can with your reviews and numbers.
Aware – Note where your awareness was off and on point. What has the assessment revealed to you? Make a list of at least 10 pros and cons.
Align – Any aspect that is ‘off’ is an opportunity to redesign for greater efficiency and impact. Identify the tasks that will get you into alignment.
Strategize – With the above information you can now generate a strategy to meet your goals with greater clarity and ease. Let’s Go!
Know – Make this a quarterly practice so you will KNOW and operate with more confidence as your actions will have greater impact. Course corrections will also be more impactful and require less energy.
With this technique you’ll be Ready to aim and fire and hit your desired outcome.
You’ve got this!! Happy Brand Building!
