I Just Can’t Do It…

In Business, Entrepreneurs, Growth, New Beginning, Strategy, success

This month I wrote an article that was based on some struggles I’ve been having and how I overcame them. But I simply can’t send it. I just can’t do it. Not with what’s going on in the world. It feels like fluff to focus on me when so much is happening out there.

Right now, it seems very important to speak about what’s going on. The divide. The hate. The unbridled bad behavior by so many. Its horrible and scary. Not to mention what the long term impact will be regarding wars, economies and how this is effecting our children. Kids who can’t sleep because of the energy of fear and toxic on-line bullying that is taking place at a rapidly increased rate. There’s also the fact that I am a Jewish Woman, and as such grew up and am quite aware of how the Nazis impacted my entire lineage. Plus, how women have had to climb to where we are around this world only in the last few decades, which could be lost in a flash.

Now, I’m not here to say that I have all the answers… what I want to speak about here is LEADERSHIP. A dear friend of mine told me a story yesterday that should NOT be occurring in the year of 2017. He had returned to his office building after lunch. Well dressed in a suit and quietly he waited for the elevator with a random woman standing in the lobby too. When the elevator came he naturally held the door open so she could board first. To which she said to him ‘I’d rather wait for the next one’. She wouldn’t get in the elevator with him!! We’re talking about a clean, educated, respected, quiet, professional man at an Office Building! I honestly don’t think this could have happened a year ago. But now bigots are being given permission to let their fear and hatred flow. He of course returned with ‘You do that’, and off he went. He kept cool, never out of line for a moment, but impacted just the same. He was hurt, puzzled, saddened and yet not all that surprised. Yet he never deviated from being the solid, strong and considerate man he is deep inside.

So, I ask you: What sort of Leader are you? What sort of Leader and motivator do YOU want to be? Do you want to inspire love, kindness, fairness and freedom? Or would you prefer to intimidate, bully and subscribe to the idea that if ‘they’ get some you will not? That we need to be afraid of others because of the color of their skin or some other perceived ‘issue’?

AND if you do want to be a GREAT leader, then what is required of you now? What is being asked of you, of your Brand, of your business?

Leaders Stand for something. We choose what we support and how we do so. Being quiet does not work. Hurting others so that you have more is not Leadership. It is cowardice. When we bring more kindness and an interest in all parties winning, it doesn’t mean that you will have less. It means we All will have More. That’s what’s possible.

That’s what  I want to be known for.

I want to be know for caring.
I want to be known for helping.

I want to be known for supporting others in being their best.
I want to be known for being open minded.
I want to be know for inciting Joy.
I want to be known for zero tolerance to hate.
I want to be known for zero tolerance for toxic, negative behavior.
I want to be known as a proponent of love.
I want to be a treasured team member.
I want to rally people around me to be their best selves.
I want to cheer people on to be better, to DO better, to change our world.

Each of us is a Leader in our own lives. You don’t have to be a business owner to be a leader. Or a President. We can be leaders when we’re 10 or 100.

Now is the time.

The time to call your inner Leader out.

To stand up for what is right.

Identify what You feel are important leadership traits … and ask yourself if you embody those. Then decide what you are ready to do Now to stand up for what is needed.

If you need support or help of any kind to do so, just ask. There are many who would like to assist. Do not use the excuse of this darkness to overshadow your own ideals and KNOWING. We each know that Hate is not permissible. Ever.

We need you all.

Stay Unforgettable!,
