It’s Time to Graduate
Here in the U.S. we are beginning the Graduation season. Many schools are completing their yearly cycles and students are completing their course work.
This year we are also graduating from a season of lockdowns worldwide.
Some of us are completing additional projects (I personally just had a book launch), still others are beginning a new season or project.
Typically a graduation is a time to reflect. To celebrate. Gathering with friends, families and colleagues. Dancing, hugging, eating and in our own ways commemorating our ‘passage’.
Yet in business we rarely do so. Time moves quickly, even during a global pandemic yet have you taken the time to consider all you’ve accomplished in the last year or 18 months?
Graduation is a time to celebrate the end result, regardless of how we got there.
More often than not, my clients (and many high-achievers) notice what needs to happen next, what we’ve done ‘wrong’ and worry about things that haven’t yet occurred.
So today I challenge you to honor yourself!
1. Take some time to get quiet and reflect on all that’s happened on the plus side over the last year or two.
2. Notice what you’ve overcome, the strides you’ve made forward, and the steps you took to make it to today. (hint: if you are reading this you have made progress for sure)
3. Look as best as you can for the small steps forward, the tiny shifts in thinking, beliefs or strategy that paved the way for forward movement…
4. Make the list over a bit of time to allow yourself to recall some of the items you may have forgotten.
These thoughts may rush in like a movie or you may need to coax them forward. Either way, it is worth your time.
I spoke to a couple of my peeps who are embarking on the biggest projects of their careers to date. As I was reminded each of how far they’ve come to be ready for this moment, I realized how much this exercise would help.
When in doubt, its SO useful to notice our own growth, so we can be assured that the work we’ve done has prepared us for this moment. Both got off the calls feeling ready and strong.
As you move forward with your business, take this time. Focus on what makes you special (that is your brand platform after all) and ask yourself how can you leverage all that you are today.
Focus on your fabulosity. Be the biggest fan you or your business could ever have and see what happens next.
It may delight you!! And allow you to graduate to a whole new level.
