Proactive or Reactive? Does it Matter?

Life has really taken a spin. There’s simply no denying it at this point. This year seems to be dragging on and on and on. And with it, some of us are not so purposeful as we were. I for one, have been challenged to stay on task, on path, on purpose. And I talk to folks daily who are feeling this too.

For many of us who believe in designing our world and conscious creation, we didn’t know we’d be bumping up against these many months of stalling, derailment, and an overall malaise as we move forward through what seems to feel like quick-sand.

So now what we ask? How do we get our heads around it ‘all’ and keep moving forward?

Actually, I’m finding that for myself and my peeps, the formula hasn’t really altered all that much. 

We DO have the power of our vision still intact. Or perhaps its a new vision, yet there IS some sort of vision. 

Here’s what I noticed:
*We can focus on what is no longer possible OR we can find new possibilities.

*We can notice the business we’re losing OR we can focus on finding additional opportunities.

*We can surround ourselves with those who think the world is dying OR we can find new communities that support our growth.

*We can let ourselves find solace in food, and self medication OR we can take good care of ourselves emotionally and physically.

*We can go totally off the rails OR we can regroup, rethink and redesign how we use our time to keep us on track.

*We can give up OR we can choose each day to move the needle forward for ourselves and those in our world.

The other day I was speaking to a client. Prior to our meeting my clients send over a “Prep Sheet” for the call. There’s always clues in those documents that allow me to get a handle on what the clients need at this moment. Amongst other things, I noticed that the overall energy of the document was not the usual for him.

So, when we spoke I asked if my intuition was correct. Turns out it was, and we dug into that a bit. Many of us are not even realizing that the global energy of despair is effecting even the most positive. Yet, it is.

When we become aware of this we then can choose. We chose to look at what IS working, what IS going well, what IS there to lean into that would be in service of his best life scenario. Both of us could feel the shift as his energy lifted, as his vision cleared, as the path forward was revealed without the darkness.

We are living in a time when we have to consciously choose every day.

Being Pro-Active rather than Re-Active is a choice. This allows us to go beyond activity to generate actions that will be useful, actions that deserve our time, activity that is both joyful AND supportive to our vision. Visions change, we change, the world changes. Let’s all see where we can step up, becoming the CEO of your life and business YOU know you can be.

When we’re RE-active it can be exhausting. Always on the defensive. Putting out fires. Looking for the holes to plug. PRO-Active is a means to activate our professionalism. Use our history, our experiences, our ‘knowing’, our internal data to choose and move forward. We get out of the loop of reaction and move into a more discerning space.

I invite you to look into this for yourself. It can be challenging to do on our own because we can’t always see it. Its really subtle. It can also be really destructive to NOT notice and nip in the bud.

The world needs you to be your best. Especially now. This adventure needs us all to be warriors for peace. To be soldiers for a generous, kind, united world. Please start today, if you haven’t already.
