It’s Time to Shift
Each of us has ‘our way’. From the way we brush our teeth, drive to and from the office to how we dissect and solve problems. If we look you’ll see you have a system for almost all you do. It may not be effective, like piling up mail you don’t read (is that only me?), nevertheless it’s a system. A system it may be time to shift.
One of the things we look at to help grow your business is the habits you have that no longer serve you.
Some are physical as in how we file or follow up with our contacts and some are psychological as in how we deal with self-sabotage, how we approach problems with team or unhappy clients.
Maybe that way of behaving is so ingrained you don’t have to try to hard to recall it, or perhaps even now you now have a list running through your mind of what you do that might be considered self-sabotage. You may even have a ‘favorite’ that keeps coming up, time and time again.
Or perhaps after more than two years of living in an insane world your self-doubt is rearing its ugly head. After all, we’ve been on shaky ground for awhile now and it can be really disconcerting.
Humans crave stability. It’s simply how we’re wired.
And these days there is a quite a bit of doubt as the earth under our feet has been trembling for an extended period.
One common theme I’m referring to is focusing on what isn’t working.
Sometimes a client will get stuck in this destructive cycle, heck I believe we all do, and it’s such a natural part of the thought process, that is goes virtually unnoticed…that is until we DO notice and create a practice to do something different.
That is to take the time to notice what IS working.
Now this may sound simple, yet it’s not always easy. Why? Because since cave man days we needed to watch for anything that may want to kill us so we Had to be hyper aware of that.
But now we’ve been distracted by this and it’s not needed to that degree anymore. Further, we’re losing the good lessons along the way by doing so.
Begin by reflecting on all the good that’s happened in the last few years. You have accomplished SO much you may have forgotten!
Right now, close your eyes or pick up your pen and make a list of what’s working. I know you can come up with five or ten items. What’s happened in the last week or two that is working, or what actions do you engage in daily that work for you every day. Start there.
Then put signs around your house and on your desktop to remind you. Maybe add a list to your phone for those times you forget how amazing you are.
Have you heard the phrase ‘what you focus on expands’? Now you can control what expands into your life. Focus on what’s working, today. Then tomorrow, then the day after that. Each time you notice something working, give yourself a silent (or not so silent) acknowledgement, and when something isn’t working, take notice.
Then STOP. Take a breath and turn your attention away, and think of a way to either make it work, or move on. Take control of your thoughts for 30 days, and see what happens.
You’ll have a new habit. A habit that supports your growth, that fosters new, beneficial thoughts, and will allow you to reach your dreams with much less effort.
Use your mind to work for you, and you’ll reach your goals much faster, with less effort and stress. Now that’s something worth trying out!
